Yup, the standard stuff comes back within 24 hours. I get the “thyroid algorithm” (where they test certain thyroid hormones but only if TSH is over a certain threshold) and that one sometimes takes longer, but no more than two days.
I have thyroid disease and never heard of a thyroid algorithm test before. What is that and what does it measure?
It’s not a specific test but rather a testing process. I think it’s also called “thyroid cascade” or something like that. It just means that if TSH is over a certain threshold, they start testing other stuff- T3, T4 (maybe?, can’t recall all the details). If TSH is in normal range, those other things aren’t tested. My TSH had fluctuated in the past, but the other hormones were in normal range and my PCP doesn’t feel like they should be tested unless TSH is high. If you have thyroid disease, you might be getting those tested regardless.
