If this lady was my school board rep I would be so angry with her.
Apparently SHE is the reason that Glasgow Middle School has 6th graders (a forgotten "pilot") and now she's doing ANOTHER pilot there for start times? https://www.ffxnow.com/2025/03/26/mason-district-to-be-proposed-as-testing-ground-for-later-middle-school-start-times/ Haven't met a single person who thinks 9:45am is a good start time for middle school. |

| You're right because 9:45 a.m. is a terrible start time for any school. It's especially bad for MS (and HS), though, because those kids will be left home when parents go to work, and if the kids miss their bus or oversleep, they'll miss the entire day of school. When the state is concerned about truancy and chronic absences, the late start time is bound to add a lot of absences. |

Glasgow has been one of the three 6-8 middle schools since the early 90s. Anderson had nothing to do with that decision. |

I just checked out the demographics of Glasgow. It appears there are a lot of English learners and FARMS students.
School starting at 9:45 when many of these kids have very low income parents? People who likely are off to work early? What could go wrong? And, middle school kids arriving home much later than their younger siblings? What could go wrong? Does this school system ever think about "worse case" scenario? |

The answer is what it has been for years now - join up with the FCDC and participate in their little faux primary or get Virginia to require parties not to endorse candidates in non-partisan elections so there is not faux primary. Or somehow make FCRC serious. |

As I recall there was another Democrat who was planning to run for School Board for 2019, but she’d previously mounted an unsuccessful challenge to the then-Mason District Supervisor, Penny Gross.
So when that woman announced she was running for School Board, Gross and her buddies went out and found Anderson to punish her for having challenged Gross. And they got most of the FCDC voters to back Anderson instead. No one had ever heard of Anderson before. |

And, join the cronies? The way it is set up, it can always scheme the system. Remember when Abrar brought all her fellow religious supporters? And, the high school kids to the DNC? Sadly, the same thing has also happened in firehouse primaries for delegates. Little advertised. If the SB is supposed to be non-partisan, get the political parties out. NO ENDORSEMENTS! |

The FCDC changed the process for endorsing candidates in 2023 to avoid a repeat of the Omeish situation. Prior to then you had to be an FCDC member to vote to endorse a candidate, but you didn’t actually have to be eligible to vote in the general election. Omeish got a bunch of teenagers to join the FCDC (probably at a discounted membership rate) before the primary and they all voted to endorse her rather than Moon, who was an incumbent. They changed it for 2023 so you didn’t have to be an FCDC member to vote in the primary for the FCDC endorsement, as long as you pledged (not enforceable) to support whoever got the FCDC endorsements. Omeish knew she would get knocked out under that system (by then she was quite controversial), so she didn’t run again. |
