Hottest summer ever

Anonymous
Is it going to be the hottest summer ever? It's already so hot and only April. Please, I don't care about climate change - I mean I do I wish I lived in an era of global cooling!

It's not actually that easy to predict because local temperatures can be affected by high and low pressure zones, currents and the position of the jet stream. NOAA right not predicts a slightly higher than temperature summer for most of the eastern US, but the models this far out aren't super reliable.

Thank goodness you’re not a farmer or work in the Chicago board of trade. Catastrophizing people like you, make people like me money.

Ever? Perhaps, perhaps not. Either way, you can get an idea at the NOAA Climate Prediction Center - https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/

You do. We are still in the Quaternary Period. There will be another Ice Age eventually, which will wipe out most of humanity, since cold is bad for life.

It's still March. Temps for April 1 in the high 40"s though I also believe summer will be hotter than Hades.

March has been very warm, especially the final three days. However, there is a front coming through tonight and it'll be cool the rest of this week. Summer will be hot, but there's no way to know if it'll be the hottest ever.

DC is always a hellish nightmare in the summer. You probably won't notice the incremental change. It will be like from one circle of hell to the next so basically the same probs.

Every summer from now on will be the “hottest summer ever” until the sun swallows the Earth.

When you think about the future, how the Sun will enlarge, turn the Earth into a cinder, then collapse and be a white dwarf, and we continue to drift in space dark and cold, while we collide with other galaxies, radiation events, supernovas, etc. until it all spreads so far apart or get compacted by a black hole star, it really makes you think.

Sometimes when I look at the news, I'm like "bring it on!"

It’s hot because the jet stream is arced high and allowing hot air from the south north. The front coming in is the jet stream moving past and we will be in a trough with colder air from the north.

How hot and for how long the summer will be depends on the jet stream pattern. It’s not a linear, steady increase in temperatures from spring to August, then back down.

Summer has gotten so miserable I find myself wishing schools would shift the calendar so that “summer break” is May/June instead of July/August. So many more days that are pleasant to get outside in those months. I feel like lost of August is spent indoors from 12-4 pm to avoid UV level 12 and 106 degrees. Meanwhile May is absolutely gorgeous.

I hate hot humid summers. However, after being freezing so much this winter I swore I would never complain again.

OP, theu firecasted almost no significant snowfall for DC, which turned out to be false. Our models have been increasingly unreliable, especially the American model, despite some major updates in the last decade. All we can do is plan for the worst and be pleasantly surprised when it isn't that. This is how you should live from now on. Just accept that nothing is going to be as you want it. And then enjoy the few moments when it is.

I scjeduled a rock climbing class indoors on Sunday that took up 3 hours total. I qas outside alot, but look forward to the next glorious day. Make a plan to have a picnic or take a walk. Have your "Oo! The weather is perfect!" Day plan in your back pocket.
