We have one of those ovens with the push buttons. Our heavy cat turned the oven to convection roast by walking over it. He's not allowed on the kitchen counters, but he must have jumped anyway. How do we prevent him from turning on the oven or stove and starting a fire? ![]() |
We have a stove with knobs on the front, dog jumped up and turned on the burner one day while we were out, melting the cutting board on top of it. Thankfully electric, not gas, or I shudder to think what could have happened.
We now have childproof covers on the knobs. Is there a childproofing strategy for your set up? |
Often ovens with the digital buttons instead of knobs have a lock feature as a child safety. You may have to loop up the owner's manual to find the right combo of buttons to press. |
Scat matt over the oven - gives a gentle shock, enough so they learn not to do it again |

Our cat did that. We got an induction. |
I don't know. But when you figure out how to truly not allow a cat on a counter, please explain it to me. |
Aluminum foil on top of the stove and the counter around the stove. They usually don’t like the noise. |
