Current HHS fed based in MoCo for now. I heard the idea floated that we may be moved to HHS HQ so just starting to consider daycare alternatives.

Anyone know the status of the GSA childcare facilities in all of the turnover? Are they still in existence and what happens to people who loose their jobs and kids are at those centers? Any feedback on HHS/ED Children’s Center by Reggio’s Treehouse in particular?

In the past, most of of the GSA sponsored centers only care about where you work when considering priority for admission off the waitlist. Once you're in, they don't care. Non-sponsoring agency kids have higher tuition though.

OP here- wow that's weird timing. Doesnt sound hopeful. The comments on this are so frustrating- ppl think that means feds get free daycare... not that they are still paying 2k a month. Wish the news would emphasize that!

I somehow missed this. I’m a non-fed, and my baby is supposed to start at a federal daycare downtown in a month.

I had my reservations about daycare already so this is not what I wanted to hear 🙃

I do know some folks who sent kids to the HHS daycare and they liked it--even after the kids moved to DCPS for PreK, they were able to go back to HHS for the summer. It would be a shame if the centers were closed right as people are returning to the office.
