Family Doctor recommendation (women's health), please -- in MoCo ...

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a good primary care physician, preferably in the Rockville/Gaithersburg/Bethesda area. I have PPO coverage, so I don't need referrals to see a specialist. But I don't have a good PCP who I can go to as a first step for any health matters. Immediately, I probably need to consult with a doctor for some discomfort I'm feeling in the rib area, under the left breast. I don't know who to go to, and would greatly appreciate any recommendations for a quality PCP. Thanks in advance ...

I'm from the Baltimore area and really like anything affiliated with Johns Hopkins. When I lived in Howard County, I used the local Johns Hopkins Community Physicians practice there, and when I moved to Rockville, I transferred to the JHCP practice here as well. I've been really happy with Dr. Anne Wilson who is a member of this practice.

Hi PP, thank you for sharing this information. I see that Dr. Wilson specializes in Internal Medicine, though I see her scope of coverage does include "Well Woman Exam" ... So, that looks promising to address the trouble I mention ...

It's been my experience that most PCPs will do your annual Pap smear and exam for you to save health care costs (instead of going to a GYN). That's what I did for years, until my PCP (at Johns Hopkins in Columbia) found something wrong with me. At that point she referred me immediately to specialists and was able to get me in to see them early. I haven't faced anything like that in Rockville (and hope I never do). So I don't know if the Rockville office would be the same, but in general I've been very happy with the doc and office staff.

Ditto the recommendation for JHCP in Rockville. I've been very happy there. (Dr. Joel is my PCP, but I saw a couple of others when she was out on mat leave, and I got good care from all of them)

OP, I made myself an appt at Johns Hopkins in North Bethesda. How did your visit go? (if you're still around....)

Hi PP, I haven't checked on here in a while, and see you have responded. Actually, I "chickened out," and at same time the discomfort went away. But I'm not proud of this, and still do need to find a good doctor. May I know with whom you booked? I hope it works out for you...
