Will tariffs increase auto insurance premiums?

Anonymous
Logically yes? How do insurance companies apply this sort of cost increase? Is it shared across all cars or only those that have an imported parts or with an imported replacement? What % increase would you expect?
Anonymous
No, but insurance is always increasing in price due to inflation and skyrocketing labor costs for accident repairs.
Anonymous
I assume that you are on your own to pay a tariff if your car gets totaled.
Anonymous
Yes, it will increase auto insurance because many parts are imported. I suspect insurance companies will increase premiums across all vehicles because, with a few exceptions, all will be impacted.

It will cost more to fix vehicles as the cost of imported parts rises. I would expect that to result in an increase in premiums.

Many savvy people are buying older vehicles (Pre 2000s) and rebuilding them now, not so much because of politics, but because most modern vehicles are not user-friendly when making repairs, with the ridiculous amount of tech stuff and computer systems on them.

Working class people don't want a drivable computer, but a solid reliable form of transportation that still looks nice and is tough enough to avoid major repairs from minor fender benders. Most modern cars are garbage, overpriced garbage.

Many poor people spend beyond their means. It's why they are poor.

Every insurance policy we have went up 50% or more last two years. They go up faster than inflation. Auto, Home, Umbrella constantly go up. I'm hearing some people are being dropped more now after accidents. They use to be okay if you have one accident. Not any more. Wait when you make a claim on Homeowners. They will sock it to you. We are yearly shopping on insurance. Everyone is getting nailed now and the tariffs haven't taken place yet.

Yes. Tariffs increase costs for everything. Especially when they’re across the board on every country and some countries it’s 40+%
