My youngest got a spot at Eaton for Kindergarten with my rising fourth grader getting #1 and my rising 2nd grader getting #2 on the waitlist. Does anyone have feedback on the SPED program there? My oldest is dyslexic and I'm really struggling with whether to move him (assuming he gets in) so we have a decent option for middle/high school. I know the general DCUM sentiment is that all DCPS SPED sucks, but hoping someone out there has actual experience at Eaton? |
I would say it is not great. One kid with IEP for speech. The year before last they didn't have a speech therapist for 6 months of the year. Since then a different therapist every year. They work with reading specialist too which seems fine but we don't have experience with dyslexia. The reading group is like 4 or 5 kids. Speech also in a group with maybe 1 or 2 other kids (not sure). Generally communication is not great. Other child at school does advanced math but didn't know they were doing it until they made some off-hand comment. Glad they go but would have been nice to know. They also have had a different or no social worker every year we have been there so not a lot of continuity. |
