My vet called with some results and is recommending surgery. I'm 99% sure we'll go ahead with the surgery, but I can't go into this not knowing the price. When I asked, she said she didn't know, and she'd have someone from the office (I can't remember who, maybe the office manager) call me back with the information. It's been a week, and I haven't heard from anyone; I'm wondering if this is because it's an unusual request. Am I wrong to assume that most people want to know the price in advance? I was kind of surprised the vet didn't have that information when she called me. |
Just call back and ask. It isn’t an unusual request but the vet is not the person who created estimates. Someone forgot about your request. |
Call back and ask. It probably just got lost in the shuffle. It takes them 20 minutes to put together an estimate and email it over, so if you call and ask and explain it's been a week you'll probably have it tonight. |
Yes, of course, guys. I did give them a call today and was again told someone would call me back. I know the vet is not in charge of the prices, I was just surprised the vet wouldn't have and provide that information when recommending surgery. No biggie; I was just curios. |
Yeah, this is either a really small vet hospital, or someone dropped the ball. I've usually had estimates before I checked out, day-of, but definitely within 24 hours.
I hope you get the info you need soon! |
I've always been given an estimate when discussing any procedures beyond normal wellness. They'll tell me blood work is $x, x-ray is $x per film, etc. It isn't unusual to ask the cost.at all. I am sure that if you call back they will have it for you |
