Whitman cross country and track

Hello, our family is moving to the Bethesda area this summer, likely in the Whitman high school boundary. I have two high school age boys who have been doing cross country and track. Is the Whitman program strong? How are the coaches? Is the atmosphere supportive? Does the season start over the summer?

We will be reaching out to the school for more information but wanted to hear honest feedback from parents too. Thank you.

My kids are not at Whitman, but logistically they can begin training on August 13 this year (the date is set by the state). Cross country will start that day or a few days after. Our cc team does informal running meet-ups during the summer to get in shape but not mandatory.

Not at the school, but in XC, they were kind of mediocre in 2024. Look at MDXC results from October. That said, most of their top runners were non-seniors, so maybe they are on the rise.
I have not noticed any Bethesda boys program doing incredible things lately. However, B-CC girls won the state title in 2024.
