I know all threads are about current admissions now, love reading results, stats and discussions!! But my DD is only getting ready to apply and whole her GPA/sat are in order, she feels she is struggling with essays/statements.
Any suggestions for essay reviewer or counseling? |
Anything mentioned here?:

It's early to be stressing about essays! How's her college list? |
Not necessarily. Summer after junior year is a great time to focus on essays, and college coaches available time may already be filling up as folks book help in advance. Plus it can take some time to find a good fit coach. |
agree that it's too early to be worried about the essays but not about hiring someone! I hired one for DS in January, with their first scheduled meeting in late June. She was almost fully committed. They can only help so many students and often have a cap. |
That is exactly my thought, wanted to get on somebody's schedule before they fill up. Any recommendations? |
I read this thread, it was discussion about whether worth it or not, but no recommendations. We are not looking for a full counseling through the process for tens of thousands dollars. Just essay portion coach/reviewer/ helper... I am trying to find actual recommendations |
College essay guy. |
Here’s my list. I’m doing a pSA so don’t flame:

https://www.susierinehart.com/ Susie, does a superb job in helping a student brainstorm, outline and ultimately write an essay that conveys a good sense of their personality and in a way that is engaging. My DS needed that and it probably played a big role in his getting into UPenn. There's no straight line from top SAT scores and perfect GPAs and ECs to a T20, much less a T10 school. An authentic, engaging essay is essential. |
Kirsten.
DC got into Michigan early, and had a very very good week this week. But probably spent months (July-October) refining all essays. A lot of work to get it right. https://www.kirstenlouisewebb.com/words |
Another who says it isn't too early! We hired someone back in January and they are pretty much near capacity now. |
Vered Strapp |
Odd…really? She has a mostly videotaped course and then 2 1:1 sessions. Seems sus |
No, reach out to her. My DS met 4 or 5 times in various time increments. 1-2 hrs. Had to complete certain steps kin the writing process between the sessions. Not sus. Straight shooter |
