Tariffs that won’t work or bring back manufacturing and will only contribute to economic malaise that grows worse every day.
Freedom of speech under attack. Law firms scared to represent anyone critical. Dismantling agencies. Pushing away allies. Belligerent language and tweets to these same folks. They are now trying to forge their own new supply chains away from a bipolar partner. They’re even moving away from purchasing stuff from GD and Raytheon to their own companies. Half the country either doesn’t read the news or is cheering all this “winning” on in a cult-like fashion. They’re insulated from reality with Fox News. Or they simply want an authoritarian for whatever reasons, but most probably because they’re excited for Christian nationalism. I mean a year from now once we are in a recession it might be more visible, but wow, what a stunning three months. There is nothing that can be said. |
The silver lining to all of this is that they are so incompetent and they are smashing things so quickly that all of this will come to a head sooner rather than later. |
We will never regain the world’s trust again. Or not for 40 years or more until we can show we are somewhat sane. Why would they trust an alley who would shut off Starlink on a whim? Or that every 4 years crazy policies and isolationism can be expected? All these dipsht boomers who voted for this are going to be real sad when their 401ks are down 30 percent next year and they have social security benefits cut. |
the young people voted for this too. don't blame the boomers |
Starlink was never a good idea. In an emergency, such as Ukraine, it might do in a pinch. But generally, not a good idea. And it's funny that it is being used at the White House - they won't have comms when it rains. I agree with the poster who said they are moving so fast and breaking so many things that they have already lost a good amount of their support. There are some MAGA who are ride-or-die but a lot of them have stopped their support. The Republicans will lose during the midterms if not before - and we'll see where we're at next year. Our courts are strong. Slow, but steady. And the unlawful acts of the administration, which are many, are being stopped. |
Of course they'll have comms. There's redundant terrestrial paths everywhere. What's wrong with you? |
But so unnecessary. My slender hope is that the speed will give us a chance to put it back together before too much is irrevocably damaged or lost. Not optimistic though. |
Meh, "this too shall pass". |
Like popping a pimple. |
Why “boomers”? Too many young people voted for Trump too. Stop looking for ways to divide people. |
You think someone is coming to save us? |
It only feels slow because time is perceived to slow down when you're experiencing a train wreck. We've already crashed. |
The only people who hate Trump more than do, and I’m 62, are my parents (84 and 87). My husband (63), a lifelong Republican, also detests him as does every 60- or 70-something member of my book group. So not all boomers love the guy. |
But many people who disliked him voted for him because they disliked the alternative more, apparently. That's part of the problem. Most people will put party over country. Only the independents or people who have fickle political allegiances seem to matter. |
We're NEVER going BACK. Even when Trump is gone, we aren't going back to Reagan or Obama. We're done with trickle down and neoliberaism. |
