Miami—we want to visit a beach before our cruise

Anonymous
We are getting in to Miami late two nights before our cruise. We would like to spend the afternoon before at the beach, casually (ie we don’t need a day pass to a resort), and then have some lunch before we head back.

We are considering the South Beach area or even South Pointe. Our hotel is in Downtown Miami near the port. I have no idea where to even request the Uber drops us off. If you’ve done this before or have suggestions, I’d love them! Thanks!

Change your hotel to a beachfront hotel.

Downtown Miami sucks.

Totally worth it to be on the beach, going back & forth between the pool and beach chairs.

Drive out to key biscayne

Key Biscayne is a pricey cab ride.

We stayed in South Beach before our cruise.

Haulover Beach is great. Dont worry about having a bathing suit with you.

We are staying with a group and meeting up with them at the hotel for the evening, so we are prioritizing that on this trip.

I agree Key Biscayne is nicer but if downtown you can just ask to be dropped off at South Pointe Park and walk to the beach easily. Many restaurants there. Big Pink is popular for brunch. Joe's Stone Crab is there. And that entire area is very walkable, you can head north to Ocean Drive if you want to see the art deco area. There are stores as well.

Bring a beach blanket.
