With the new academic year approaching, I'm trying to solve our family's scheduling puzzle and would love local insights:
Our Challenges: 🚌 Transportation - Anyone using after-school shuttle services for SENG/IB kids between schools? 📅 Activity Juggling - Best shared calendars for co-parenting across DCPS/DCPCS? 🍎 Teacher Gifts - Still doing individual presents or moving to class funds post-pandemic? Specific Asks: Carpool Coordination - Any apps/groups for Ward 3 to Silver Line schools? Before-Care Hacks - Favorite 7am drop-off solutions for working parents? High Schoolers - Do your teens actually use those student Metro passes? "Trying to avoid another September meltdown (mine, not the kids')" - all tips welcome! ![]() |
Yes have your teen use the Kids Ride Free card and take the bus and Metro. It sounds daunting but it only took like a week to get used to! It’s soooooo awesome when your kid can get themselves around! |
+1. Not even just high school. Hordes of fifth and sixth graders use public transportation to Latin, Basis, etc. |
And lower grade kids need them for field trips so they will absolutely use them. |
Is this for SY 2025-2026?
How many kids, what grades and which schools - or at least a general idea of where the schools are located ? |
