With the new academic year approaching, I'm trying to solve our family's scheduling puzzle and would love local insights:

Our Challenges:
🚌 Transportation - Anyone using after-school shuttle services for SENG/IB kids between schools?
📅 Activity Juggling - Best shared calendars for co-parenting across DCPS/DCPCS?
🍎 Teacher Gifts - Still doing individual presents or moving to class funds post-pandemic?

Specific Asks:

Carpool Coordination - Any apps/groups for Ward 3 to Silver Line schools?

Before-Care Hacks - Favorite 7am drop-off solutions for working parents?

High Schoolers - Do your teens actually use those student Metro passes?

"Trying to avoid another September meltdown (mine, not the kids')" - all tips welcome!

Yes have your teen use the Kids Ride Free card and take the bus and Metro. It sounds daunting but it only took like a week to get used to! It’s soooooo awesome when your kid can get themselves around!

+1. Not even just high school. Hordes of fifth and sixth graders use public transportation to Latin, Basis, etc.

And lower grade kids need them for field trips so they will absolutely use them.

Is this for SY 2025-2026?

How many kids, what grades and which schools - or at least a general idea of where the schools are located ?
