MAGA is so undemocratic I just can’t anymore…
Facing pressure from his right flank to take on judges who have ruled against President Donald Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., on Tuesday floated the possibility of Congress eliminating some federal courts. “We do have the authority over the federal courts, as you know. We can eliminate an entire district court. We have power of funding over the courts and all these other things,” Johnson told reporters on Tuesday. “But desperate times call for desperate measures, and Congress is going to act.” https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/speaker-mike-johnson-floats-eliminating-federal-courts-rcna197986 |
FACISTS gonna be FACISTS
The only consolation: imy early 20s kids are seeing what we need to fight for (and against). They are learning first-hand how tenuous democracy is… |
Maybe Roberts would like to chine in to defend his part of the government? |
Who?? |
Wait, didn't liberals want to expand the Supreme Court because they did not like the current makeup and rulings? |
It’s like kindergarten. If you can’t win fairly you change the rules.
Or maybe you could not do illegal things. Tough choices. |
Mike J is an unremarkable man. |
Sounds like a crappy kindergarten you went to |
It is clear that Trump/Johnson do not think the SCT is going to agree with them on all these illegal orders (and there isn't even a gray area on most).
Just appeal and live the results. But they are worried because it is so egregious so go ahead and just eliminate federal courts. |
Hey, stay on script. Anything Democrats do is inherently pro-democracy, you see. Only Republicans are capable of being dishonest, partisan, hypocritical hacks. |
Did they? No. |
Expanding the court means there are more people to assess and provide discussion and a verdict on the law not less. Republicans are advocating elimination of courts that they have no jurisdiction over because the judicial system is a co-equal branch. And if we’re at the point of trying to defund said co-equal branch of government then let’s just go ahead and admit we no longer have the democracy created by our constitution and this in effect are no longer a functioning nation. |
EXCUSE me, but why do you think the Chief Justice should “chine (sic) in”? Yes he is the “head” of the Judicial Branch as a whole but that is just ceremonial. He can’t “chine (sic) in” on matters that might come before SCOTUS. Plus, don’t you realize he would AGREE that troublesome courts need to be eliminated? Not to mention other Judicial organizations that cause problems. The Federal Public Defenders constantly undercut the rest of the Judiciary with their demands for more more more. Wouldn’t it make sense for the most wasteful, like the ones who drag out death penalty cases, to get eliminated or go through some things? I’m sure the Chief Justice thinks so, but he’s supposed to “chine in”? |
That’s pretty true, though. |
Are they going to learn that it's hopeless to fight back? That their parents are cowards? |
