Why is DOGE Involved in Voter Records?

I’m very confused about this EO why does DOGE need to be involved in voter records and how is this remotely legal?

That is only true if the executive branch follows the law. The EO literally says that the federal government should withhold funding for states that don’t comply and that the AG should step in to prosecute people if the states don’t cooperate.

Just about every democracy on the planet requires voter ID and the vast majority do not permit absentee voting for citizens that live domestically. The US is a complete outlier on this.
