If you attend Mass 2+ times per week and then judge people based on their clothes, hairstyles, car make, do you ever regret being such example to your children? Do you ever consider pausing your attendance to Mass until you reflect on your actions? Do you think attending Mass 2x per week makes you a good person?

No
No No |
Why do you attend Mass 2x per week? |
The ones attending Mass several times a week generally are lonely souls. That category overlaps with people who have pushed others away by being irredeemably nasty.
So yes, I can well believe a twice a week mass-goers might have no filter and be super judgey about others. (Basically, it's Ms. Marple's old lady friends from her village all over again.) |
You can judge people on their clothes, cars, etc, without saying it out loud. You can just judge silently inside your head. |
Wow, you sound super judgy! |
What happened, OP? Who are you talking about? A family member? Neighbor? |
Maybe they seek judgment . . against themselves.
"For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body." 1 Cor. 11:29 |
Do you judge people who attend Mass 2/wk?
|
PP you replied to. Not at all. It's just a common occurrence, both in fiction and in real life. I have a filter, thank you ![]() |
I don’t think this is true at all. |
Cutting down on Mass attendance because you have a sin problem would be like cutting down on diabetes medication because your blood sugar is high. |
People who attend mass during the week might be good people too, who just need structure in their lives - and get it by going to mass. |
This question seems so weirdly specific.
I don’t go to mass twice a week but my grandmother went daily. In part because she really enjoyed Mass. But then she lost her husband early and unexpectedly and lost a child early and unexpectedly and going to Mass gave her comfort with those losses. I think my mom would go twice a week if she had someone to drive her. I think most people who go to mass during the week are just looking for comfort and connection. I don’t think they are more judge than most. Also as a Catholic who is not from this area….ill note that in much of the country, Catholics are not rich or fancy like they are in some neighborhoods here. In my hometown, the Catholics are mostly very working or middle class. They are not judging anyone for what they drive — well, if someone pulled up in a nice Porsche, they might have some thoughts on that. But I don’t think that’s what you were asking. It sounds like you’ve had a bad experience with someone and are blaming it on their mass attendance, which seems to me to be misplaced. |
+1 just what I was thinking. Frankly, I can't relate to religious reasons for going to mass, but I can understand the need for repetition and structure. For some people, it could be like having a cup of coffee in the morning or reading the paper or going for a run. |
