I recently started two different drugs that act on serotonin. I feel great mentally, but I’m horribly nauseous. I find that I’m able to eat sweet foods, so I’ve been mixing collagen peptides into my coffee and having a baked sweet potato for breakfast. For lunch, I have carrots and a banana and peanut butter sandwich. I’m looking for suggestions for other breakfast and lunch ideas. Thanks! |
BRAT diet=bananas, rice, applesauce, toast |
BRAT plus ginger, mint, etc. |
If it's Lexapro, my own extreme nausea passed after about 2 weeks. Good luck. |
Apple sauce, chicken or bone broth (bone is better - more protein), etc. |
Oatmeal? |
You need some protein! How about tofu, sliced into strips and air fried or baked, then dip in hoisin sauce? |
I don’t know anything about your medications, but I generally find probiotics (yogurt, kefir, fresh sauerkraut, etc.) are helpful, and in extreme cases I might even use some OTC probiotic supplements.
If one kind doesn’t work for you, you might try another. I think different probiotics can affect individuals differently (maybe because of differences in their gut biomes?). For example, I know some people swear by kombucha, but it makes me feel worse, while kefir seems to be most effective for me. FYI - I THINK kombucha tends to contain alcohol, while commercial kefir in the dairy case has any alcohol processed out of it - but I’m no expert, so if it matters to you, either way, you may want to do your own research. |
banana
bread and butter plain pasta and butter (artichokes or hearts of palm or broccoli for fiber?) PB&J chicken orzo soup |
French toast. It’s how I made it through pregnancy (hyperemesis (sp?))
|
Rice with coconut milk and mango
Smoothies |
Congee. Cook a small amount of rice in chicken broth (bone broth if you can find it or make it) with lots of ginger. Simmer until the rice falls apart in a kind of porridge consistency. |
Buy some Kettle & Fire beef and/or chicken BONE broth. Make rice. Heat the bone broth and mix in the rice so there is plenty of broth. |
You can put anything into a smoothie: tofu, edamame, greens, etc. Hopefully the nausea will pass! |
