I have been scared I’m going to be laid off since the beginning of the year. I’m in government contracting and survived the first round but who knows what’s to come. I’ve been limiting my spending as much as I possibly can to save whatever I can for if I lose my job. I’m also applying and have a few interviews in the next week.
I desperately need a haircut and color and my botox wore off long ago. I would like to take care of these things especially if I have to interview somewhere (no need to look older than I am!). But I feel so guilty spending the money. What are others doing? Are you keeping up with maintenance if you are at risk for RIF? |
| I am but am stretching it all out more. |
| If I were you, I would spend on the maintenance, it really helps to be well groomed and polished in interviews. I pray your job stays unharmed and you can enjoy life’s small luxuries without guilt. Stay well! |
| Same dilemma. I think I’ll compromise and go cheaper. |
| Dye hair at home. |
|
If you get it done, pick a hair cut and color that's more sustainable and can go longer or that you can keep up at home. Don't get something that will need to be done again in 6 weeks.
Don't bother with Botox. No one is looking at your forehead that closely in an interview. |
| Cut and color will help you look polished. Agree that Botox is not necessary. |

Same situation, early 40s dual fed household.
I wanted to start botox earlier in the year... cancelled the appointment. I cut my own hair and have my husband do a box of highlights every few months. I bought an at home microneedling device instead of going for another in office treatment. |
| Hair yes, idk about Botox. |
| No botox. I get my brows done religiously, I don't dye but have light hair, so any grey blends), and I skimp on cuts. I keep my hair long and learned how to do nice, low buns. |
| I would still get the botox, if I was you. It sounds like you really need it. |
|
Do the hair, skip the botox.
Women with botox and fillers look a decade older than they actually are. |
+1 John Frieda + good sleep + water + exercise + good food - alcohol - drugs/vape/smoke = many many treatments |
| My esthetician said that business has been dead since the beginning of the year. So, you aren't the only one holding off. I'd do the haircut and color, not the botox. |
