Unwritten rules about bad guys in movies

I was watching adolescence (another thread on that alone) and saw that some of the criticism of it was the fact that it portrays a white kid committing these crimes when the knife crimes were non-white men in the UK.

Thought - there are taboo bad guys. E.g. the Chinese can never be the bad guys or you risk losing money making the state an enemy. Is it now also that you can't have a person of color represented as a bad guy? Any other ones?

I saw/read something that Apple doesn’t allow their products to be used by bad guys. Spoiler alert - when you watch a film, the person without the Apple phone is usually a bad guy.
