Where to stay in Barcelona?

Anonymous
First week in July. First time visiting with our two daughters (tween and teen). What part of the city should we stay in? Any specific hotel recommendations? Budget wise, we don’t need top top of the line, but not a fan of super ‘budget’ hotels. We might want two hotel rooms with connecting door in between. Also looking for hotel recommendations in Valencia. Thanks!

Not cheap, but we stayed in Hotel Neri in the Gothic Quarter. I was spectacular, and the service was amazing, as was the location. Your daughters will love shopping in the Gothic Quarter (but definitely be aware of pickpockets).

+1. Easy to get to the beach, too

We stayed here.

Central location, decent breakfast, and friendly staff. There is also a tiny pool with plenty of seating. There are a lot of room configurations.

We loved everything about Apartment SixtyFour - especially the location which my teen girls loved for shopping, cafes, etc. It's like an Air B&B but with a front desk staff who can help with restaurant recommendations, etc. Plus it has a full kitchen, and they deliver a basketful of breakfast foods every morning. Good luck with the trip - it's such a fun city to tour with family.

We had a medium budget and stayed here for more space than a hotel room: http://valesuites.com/

Happy with the unit and building. The location was decent, a little further of a walk to the center of things but still doable. We also took the bus a few times.

Just beware of all the anti-tourist sentiment and protests. It’s expected to be back again this summer.

We stayed on the concierge floor of the Hotel Arts. It was amazing. Beautiful pool, beautiful views of ocean and city, incredible food and service anytime of day/night, and easy access to train station and hop on/off bus. Despite the heat, we were able to walk just about everywhere too.

Have a fantastic trip!

In Barcelona we stayed at the Hotel Arts (which was overrated IMO) and the Hotel Claris, which was beautiful and a great location.

In Valencia we wanted to be near the beach so stayed at Arenas del Mar. I would choose a different property. If you want to be near the beach I would look at towns about an hour south of Valencia
