Can someone explain how Republicans claim to be originalists but in the same breath want to get rid of any checks and balances (impeaching judges that disagree with them, ignoring the appropriations Congress makes) and instead give all power to the executive branch? How do they reconcile those two stances? Please help me understand.
Do you really want the President to just decide who gets to be in the US with no due process? Do you really want the President to just decide what the government funds? Why would we have any other branches at all then? |
They suddenly have this narrative that the executive branch is not co-equal but is above all like a dictator. The comments sound so similar that I cannot help but wonder if there is an astroturfing campaign to convince them of this, regardless of what the constitution actually says. |
They are hypocritical. Law and order, but only if it is for the other guy. Family values, only to be imposed on others. You get the idea. |
2 believe in the constitution in terms of letting them be free from other countries. The originalist part being that the rights belong to White men and the rules are made for them to enforce upon others. When people know history this really makes sense. |
