Poster said better to start a new thread than to post on a 2018 thread about a Churchill's prom:

Can a Junior attending this year's prom purchase their own ticket or do they need to ask their date (a senior) to get them a ticket?

Senior needs to purchase. The junior can just Venmo the amount if they want to pay their way.

a guy invited a girl to the prom and then is asking her to pay for the ticket?

didn't know if kid has to secure own ticket for admin purpose ($ is not issue can pay own or venmo etc..) or the date just adds an extra ticket when they get their own ticket. Looks like they figured it out.
