DC Lottery Results

First time doing the lottery:

Is there a specific time when the results are released, or do they email you when they’re available?
Anonymous
They always email the date they say they will be posted, but historically the results have been posted the night before. I think usually 10pmi the night before the official results day? Can’t fully remember.

Usually the night before but I remember about 5 years ago they were not. So don't stay up too late.

Okay, thank you. This is my first year doing the lottery & wasn’t sure of the process. The website didn’t provide information on the time.

The past few years it has been the night before. Last year it was before 10. They don’t email until the official day of the release so you’ll just have to login.

Okay, thank you. I’ll log in at around 10 pm & see if the results are available.

Yes!

In past usually someone would text that the results have been posted, or you see chatter on DCUM/school communities.

I’m ready to be disappointed about not getting in to Latin! Let’s go!

I'm already steeling myself for nothing but "no." My kid is, sadly, doing the same again this year. Year after year the lottery has never given us hope-for results.

The anxiety of parents and the kids should be studied because while I know that today is NOT results day, I feel so anxious as if it is!

I understand it feels like a lot is at stake, but how we talk about schools and exhibit this behavior around our kids really does matter. I’ve heard stories of kids feeling like they had been fully shutout from middle school when they didn’t get into Latin. And my kids tell me what their friends who go to Latin say about being at a superior school to them.

There are kids at all of the Hill middle schools who are genuinely happy and thriving, and the number of higher-achieving kids attending each of those schools seems to be growing each year. Also, there are some major advantages to going to your neighborhood school in the community in which you live—and therefore most of your kids’ classmates live as well.

I wish everyone all the best this week, but let’s not crush our kids with our own anxieties.
