Almost 15 DS hasn't really had a growth spurt (?)

Anonymous
He'll be 15 in June. He's 5'6 or a little shy, which is only 2 inches taller than a year ago. Wondering if he's going to be really short, or has he not had a growth spurt yet? Is this normal? Not sure what's usual for a 14-15 year old boy. (He has a couple of friends who are 6 feet tall!)
Dad is 6'1 and I'm 5'6, so I assumed my kids would be tall-ish, though obviously you can't be sure.

Does he seem like a late bloomer (based on what you can tell, or what the ped has said?)

If so, the growth is probably coming. My DS was 5’6”-5’7” on his 15th birthday, 5’11” on his 16th birthday a few months ago. Measured 6’0” at a sports physical a few weeks ago and still seems to be growing. DH and I are 6’0” and 5’6”.

Some just bloom on the later side.

His birthday is June, so we haven't seen the ped for a while. He doesn't have any hint of facial or body hair that I can see (eg above the waist). He has sort of a husky voice and I can't tell if it's dropped. So I guess it might be delayed puberty? Would they recommend hormone treatment? A friend of mine (who has a 6 foot just turned 15 year old) asked me if I was considering growth hormones.

My son is about the same. Turning 15 in June and just passed me at 5’5. My husband is 6’1, so he should have more to grow. He also has no visible facial hair. He’s grown maybe 2 inches in the past year, so hoping for a spurt this year. His doctor seemed unconcerned last year.

Mine is 5’4. Hoping he will get taller.

Growth spurt might be coming. DC passed my height 5'7" when he was 15 and 5 months. I was a late boomer.
He is 6 feet now. His dad is 5'10".

My just turned 15 year old is about 5’9? I don’t know, he needs to have his checkup. His voice is deep and he had to shave once a few months ago but not since.

What the heck!? I also have a 14 year old who's 6'1" but he's definitely among the taller of his friends. That's by no means the typical height of a freshman! He has friends who range from 5'1 (and yes, some of those boys are on growth hornones) to 6'3"- a wide
range for sure.

FWIW, once my son's growth spurt started, it happened quickly but we didn't notice it immediately.

DS didn't have his growth spurt until late HS and into college. He's now 6'1". Was 5'5-5'6 in early HS

He will grow! My DS was about the same height at 14 (maybe 5’5”?). By 15 1/2 he was 5’8” and is now 16 1/2 and 5’11”. Definitely still growing and just starting to get hair on his lip and under his arms. Dad is 6’0” and mom is 5’5”. Sisters are 5’9” and 5’8”.

Some people are shorter than average. Deal with it.

He’s probably just going to be a late bloomer. It happens.

You can’t control how tall he is. Maybe he’s done. Maybe he’s not. At that time freshman year my kid was 5’6. Now he’s 6’2 as a junior, much taller than DH or me.

My today turned 15 1/2 DS is around 5'7. He has always been a little short. He had a small growth spurt since he was 13 but not sure if he will keep growing. Dad is 5'9 and Mom 5'4-5'5ish.
