I just turned 12 weeks and went to my OB appointment and after nudging around my baby (who was very active!) in the ultrasound, she told me that it was most likely a girl. She said it was according to the nub theory and what she saw on the ultrasound. I asked her again at the end of the appointment if she thinks it’s a girl, and she said yes. She seemed pretty confident that about it.
Is 12 weeks too early to tell or should I just trust my OB? Has anyone else been told the gender at 12 weeks? |
Just do genetic testing |
I mean |
No, and I would immediately ditch any OB who relayed this to a patient based on nub theory. JFC, dumb and irresponsible. |
Why haven't you done NIPT at this point? |
This is too early to tell. Just wait until your 20 week if you're not getting the blood test. |
This is very strange. I can’t believe a doctor would actually say that. Are you fudging some details here? |
If you want to know just find out with the test at 8/9 weeks. |
I was correctly told that at 12 weeks. |
Of course you can tell- nub up it’s a boy, nub down it’s a girl. |
Are you sure they aren't telling you because of nipt results? |
OP here. I haven’t done the NIPT test and I’m not planning on doing so.
Im not going to go and buy girl stuff now but my OB seemed very confident about it. I guess I’ll wait and see in a few weeks! |

50% chance |
Nub theory at 12 weeks was correct for me! |
