Board and Train

Anonymous
I saw this mentioned in another thread that there are programs for this. I have a 4-year-old rescue and would be interested in this program as we are going abroad this summer for 3 weeks. We have now had him for about 8 months and are ready to address some of his more challenging behaviors.

We had planned on boarding him, but the idea of having a training boot camp during this time really seems intriguing! I understand we would have to work hard when we return, but the headstart might be just what we need.

I have been googling and finding places, but I was hoping to get recommendations of places people have used successfully. The dog is quite large- around 60 pounds, and a mixed breed, so I am hoping to find a place that can handle his size.

Be really careful where you send your pup. Some people have good experiences and others tell horror stories. Make absolutely sure you understand what training methods will be used and that you approve of them. Also, be aware that training does not stick if you don't reinforce it when you return home . You may need a session or two with the trainer yourself to learn how to maintain what was taught.

Check out Rachel Jones, the owner of K9 Divine. I've used her training services in the past and used the dog boarding there, but haven't done board and train. She's an excellent trainer and I see they do offer board and train at the dog ranch. https://k-9divine.com/services/dog-board-and-train/
