What is a good job for my 75 year old dad?

Anonymous
My dad is 75 and has nothing to do with his time. He comes to our house and wanders around while we work from home, causing noises and distractions. My mom wants him out of the house so he comes to our house. Usually we don't mind but sometimes it can be very distracting. What is some part time work he can do that requires not much effort that he can possibly do for a few hours during the day? He doesn't like standing for long periods or time and can't lift heavy things.

Yes, not a job, but volunteering.Lots of opportunities. Also find a senior center or club for him to join.

Sorry he sounds senile. I do not think he needs a job at this point in life. Maybe there is a golf group or American Legion club or similar you can drop him off at.

Volunteering at the library. He can take sitting breaks.

Agree with PPs that volunteering would be the best option.

Another volunteer idea.... reading or homework tutor through an organization like his place of worship if he has one or a senior center

The AL is a great idea.
Also a gym. Like YMCA. He can hang there and encourage the other old people to do chair yoga and then they all have coffee.

I actually enjoy how every thread turns political around here.

UPS store, assuming they would let him sit down when it's not busy.

Home Depot. Not cashier but walking around the store helping people find things, if he knows tools, etc.

Volunteer at library or maybe at the local hospital - if there is an info desk?
