or is it just empty threats again. The market will really crash if he does.
It's disgusting what he is doing to business owners not only to our neighboring countries but also to our own American small businesses |
I have just been trying to save money with the mindset that he will eventually do it. I have an “oh well” mindset now and have just started to ignore the threats. It is what it is. |
In terms of our export markets, the damage is already done and it’s probably permanent. At this point it’s just a question of how much Trump wants Americans to suffer. |
Yes.
I think he feels very powerful announcing his tariffs and imposing his tariffs — both on other countries and to the detriment of most Americans and economic stability. He simply doesn’t care beyond that. This way he can threaten to impose tariffs for another week or so, bask in the power of imposing anxiety on others, and either continue this pattern or pretend he’s “won” something by the 2nd — which will allow him to continue to repeat the pattern. This is bullying 101. “I have the power to hurt you. It’s gonna be really bad for you. I decided not to hurt you today because I stole your sandwich instead. “ Rinse and repeat. “I have the power to hurt you.” |
We replaced our cars this past week thinking if we wait another year or so prices are going to skyrocket and we won't be able to afford them. |
Who knows. Chaos seems to be the point. |
He will, temporarily. How long they stay will probably depend on the response, and the market reaction. Then he will be nice and back off.
He's a bully. He has to play mind games. If he doesn't back off then who knows what will happen, but it won't be good for anyone. Who will want to enter a trade deal with the US after all of this? |
I just posted, but this is what I wonder. How much long term damage is being done? The US needs to export. Yes other countries need to import but not necessarily from the US, not at the levels they have been. Hell, he's babbling about building second rate military equipment for allies, just in case they aren't allies anymore. I doubt anyone is thinking "oooh that's a good deal." |
Yes. They will be doubled and Trump will receive a % as his share. |
Yes he's a bully. Also he hates Americans....unless they are billionaires and can do something for him. |
Assume the chaos is allowing many people in the know yo manipulate the stock market. |
Once your former partners have opened new trade channels and made the switch, it’s very difficult to win that business back. I don’t think American bourbon exports ever recovered to Obama-era levels, and that’s a very distinct product with no real substitute. Commodities are relatively easy to replace. And some markets, once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. If China stops buying our chicken feet, chicken farmers are going to be hurting. No one else is buying them for those prices. Prices will go up on the rest of the bird for sure. |
Let it crash. I wonder how he will.blame Biden. |
Yes, and 47% of Americans will approve. |
Does anyone know what goes on in that tiny pea brain of his? He acts on impulse. He has no real plans. His plan is "revenge" on all of his enemies. Aside from that, he seems to react to whatever passes under his nose. The man is a malignant narcissist surrounded by people who kowtow to him to get him to do their bidding. Musk is running the country now. We have a drug addict in charge. |
