W&M—Predictions

Any predictions for W&M next friday? Could UVA's liberal waitlist use mean competition for spots at W&M will be tougher also?

It's not coming out next Friday, it's coming out the last week of March as per a phone call to admissions

Rightly so. This is the biggest high school grad class and competition is fierce. But it should be noted that W&M isn't simply a UVA 2nd choice. Applications that reflect a good fit for W&M will be in a stronger position.

I hope they come out next week! So many sad people right now after UVA's release yesterday. Many kids also applied to W&M so hoping they get some good news.

I'd be surprised if they changed their minds and got it out early but suppose it can always happen. It's a little strange they haven't shared any application numbers yet but the last time it came out late was 2021 with a 25% increase in applications

I don't think UVA's waitlist (or any waitlist) is going to move much this year. Things are very tight. My high stats kid from OOS has one accept and it's UVA. I know several others like him. In any of the recent years on Naviance he would also have UNC, Michigan, etc.

I'm also curious - do we think "last week" means the last full week, or the week of the 31st. Are colleges even allowed to release decisions after the end of March?

They will report in March. The date will depend on when they finish with applications.

So they have more this year then?

In state acceptance rate dropped from 40% to 34% in the last year.

There are so many elements that don’t come through on Naviance. So I would t get too hung up on that. Our “high stats kid” didn’t get into Michigan CS last year . This year isn’t any different.

W&M ED1 was a little later than expected (based on previous years). They did not announce on IG until decisions were in the student's portals, but they did share earlier in the day to check portals around 5pm (via a phone call to admissions). All of this is to say, I don't think admissions will tell you (either via phone or IG) the date they are planning to release RD until the actual day of the release.

Fingers crossed for all of you who are waiting. Go Tribe!!
