Metro to Rock and Roll half marathon?

Anonymous
The race starts at 8:00, I’m in corral 9, which starts at 8:20 or 8:30. According to WMATA trip planner, my metro train leaves West Falls Church at 7:08, arrives at Federal Triangle (right near the start line) at 7:32. Yet the person at the information booth today tried to dissuade me from taking Metro, saying I should be in my corral 45 to 60 minutes early.

Huh? I hate waiting around and want to get there as late as practicable.

Anyone else have experience doing this? It’s my first RnR in DC, but I took Metro to the Army Ten Miler and it was fine.

Thanks.

It should be listed on metro's website

There’s no reason to be there an hour early unless you’re at the front of the corrals. You should be fine assuming the train is on time.

For next year. There is no reason to be there early at all. Every year my buddy and I are in corral 1 just behind the elite group. We get in there with like 2 minutes to go and do a warm up along 14th ahead of the start chute. I imagine the earlier corrals would work the same way.

Plenty of people corral themselves wrong anyways which is to be expected at these massive road races.
