And here's where it's really bad - former Real World star Sean Duffy seems like one of the only adults in the administration. So if flying is this bad now - just think of what everything else is like with these yahoos running things. Thanks, thanks a million Trump voters. |
yup....up next MAGA cult follower tells us there is nothing to see and it's safer to fly than drive....blah blah blah |
So, what you’re saying is “a plane had some kind of in-flight engine failure, which resulted in a fire. The plane was directed by ATC to re-route and make an emergency landing, whereupon the integrated safety systems built into the aircraft allowed passengers to escape the aircraft, where they were all rescued by FAA-trained aircraft fire fighters and rescue personnel… without injuries.” Well….. you’re welcome. |
Yeah, guys. Planes catch on fire with people in them all the time. |
Spend some time browsing the Wikipedia history of plane crashes (and aircraft engine fires) in the US from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. It will be quite an eye opener for you, assuming you’re not too arrogant to do it. Commercial aviation is safer now than it has ever been, in terms of incidents-per-passenger-hour. Do you understand how to interpret statistics? Did you take any stats classes in pursuit of whatever liberal arts basket weaving degree you earned? |
Oh yeah, let's compare 2025 to the error rates from 50 to 75 years ago. That totally makes more sense than comparing it to, oh, the rates from the last 10-15 years. |
I also like to compare things I do to what they were limited to doing in the 1950s. It makes me look great! |
Why is this a political issue? You really think the fire is the result of the change in administration? |
You broke it, you bought it.
The trend in air travel safety is not going upwards, PP. Maybe we just need some more fires and airplanes landing upside down (hi, Delta!) to figure it out. Musk did acknowledge his team was going to break things along the way. I'm sure he'll fix it eventually. |
![]() Seriously! |
And going BACKWARDS in safety back towards that time is winning ... how, exactly? |
So not only do you not understand math, you’re also really bad at reading comprehension, too. Oberlin College alum? |
Geez what is with Trumpians and reading comprehension? Is it because their leader can't read? |
Oh, I absolutely agree with you that if it was an unsolved safety issue back in the 1950s, it certainly is fine to see it happening more frequently today. Who could argue with that? |
I am OP and I just think it's not very good that flying seems a whole lot more dangerous than it did back before January. I like to fly. I like to travel, I like my plane not to crash or catch on fire. I remember when I could pretty much count on that, back in the olden days of 2024. Do I know this is Trump's fault? Surely not. Do I notice that this is happening a whole lot more since he became president? Yes I do! I miss when the president and his chainsaw-wielding ketamine-fueled rocket boy weren't attacking the people who are tasked with keeping us safe. |
