Can someone explain the Kim Sae-ron/Kim Soo Hyun saga?

My wife is OBSESSED with the story surrounding Sae-ron's xeath. Apparently it is rocking all of Asia? She leaked a story of him dating her when she was minor or something?

And I guess the whole saga underscores the insane, brutal, and extremely toxic underbelly of Korean society? About saving and having face, taking on the powerful, bashing people in public, etc.

Can someone piece this together for me and why this is blowing up Asia? Apparently he's the Tom Cruise of Korean films, and he once had an expo or something in Bangkok where he made the venue clear out and area so he could play ping pong, highlighting his insane persona?

I only get snippets and it is hard to follow because she's just not good at explaining complex topics (sorry honey!).

My understanding is that the guy is basically the Tom Cruise of K Drama. Massive female following and fan base. He got into some kind of ugly breakup with Sae-ron. The media destroyed her after her DUI and she killed herself, but the plot thickens because it leaked that the guy was dating her while she was an underage minor when he was something like 28-29. Then there is a story of how there was tons of money involved and she was on the hook for his production company or whatever after a deal went sour. He was crushing her financially. All of this may have contributed to her suicide. Her family also came out firing against him, which is unheard of in Korean culture because you just don't challenge powerful people when you are lower on the rung in Korean culture.....unless of course you have a very strong case to be made.

Now more and more stories are coming out about how deranged the guy is and how much of a drama queen/diva he is. For example the crazy ping pong table sorry above.

Again, I'm very confused by all of this because I haven't kept up. But it is a massive scandal apparently for billions of people on the planet. Huge public flame wars, scandals, and a death involved.

He was really good in Queen of Tears and It’s Ok Not To Be Ok. I heard the scandal, basically what the pp said. Poor girl, I’m sure stuff like this happens a lot in the industry because women have so little standing. I don’t really care about KSH’s personal life though.
