Looking to take my 20 yo son to an excellent old school steak house in DC.
What are the best these days? While probably not the best anymore, would the Palm be fun for the experience or did it jump the shark a long time ago? Thank you! |

Trying again!
Which has better atmosphere/vibe for a 20 yo Bourbon Steak or Rare Steakhosue |
| I'd do Capitol Grill or Old Ebbitt |
Maybe Del Frisco because City Center is kind of bright and fun but DF itself isn't a good a vibe as CG or OEB |
| My last meal at Bourbon Steak was bad. |
| The Capitol Grille on Pennsylvania Avenue is as DC as it gets |
| Not Old Ebbitt-- it is what it is. A Tourist trap. I would not call Bourbon Steak or Del Friscos Old School if you are looking for wood walls, waiters in white jackets, tie required. Prime Rib? |
| Joe’s |
| Randy’s Prime |
| Joe's Seafood |
| Never had a better steak than at capital grille. Been a while though so I don’t know if it’s still good. |
| Capital Grill or Prime Rib |
| Ask him if he wants to go somewhere kind of iconic with old pictures on the wall—he might find it interesting. If so, definitely The Palm. If not, I’d choose between Bourbon, Rare, Capital Grill and Mastro. Definitely not Old Ebbit— I actually like that place but it doesn’t have a traditional old steakhouse feel. I know you asked about DC but I have to add that Gordon Ramsay’s steakhouse in Baltimore totally gives the old steakhouse vibe and the food is great. |

thanks everyone! Love OE (and son has been there several times) but definitely looking for the tradition steakhouse.
Is Capital Grille really that? He won't know the difference between a really amazing steak and a really good steak, so definitely going for the vibe. Probably will pick Palm or Joe's this first time. |
If that’s the case don’t go to capital grille. Steaks are great but it’s kind of stuffy. |
