We have Verizon phones and we are traveling to Europe for 2 weeks.I was wondering about cell phones data and wireless services. How to you all manage? |
We have an international plan through AT&T for $10/day. |
Same but with Verizon. |
Just bought a $20 eSIM and used in Paris and it worked great. It was from Orange. Can reload or buy a larger one. |
We had data and texting on Google Fi included with our plan. I'm pretty frugal, but I would have paid for it because it was so much more convenient, especially with teens going off on their own and using Google maps. Or buying tickets to things while out. |
Thank you everyone. Just checked Verizon have a plan $12/ day .

Sounds economical will check it out. Thanks OP |
These are good plans, but note that you will "lose" your regular phone number because your Verizon SIM will be off. Your phone will have a French (or whatever country you land in) number for the duration of your trip. Can be a problem with getting things like texts from banks, etc to login, plus folks at home. Can be an issue for some, not for others. But yes $40 for 2 phone for 2 weeks obviously much better than $340. |
Check your plan, I get a discount on additional lines too. |
When we went, my phone had the $10 a day plan, and my kid didn’t have that option so he got a SIM card at the airport (eSIM might be easier, but his phone was older). It was actually good having one of each. My phone was totally seamless, and if we needed a local contact number for a restaurant or something, we used his. But as the pp said, if you have multifactor authentication by SMS, you need your US phone number to work.

AT&T is now $12/day, but additional users on the same account are $6/day. I think there is a max number of days in a month. It does add up -I think my bill was $170 higher last month with a European vacation. |
Thank you. Yes adults need to keep the US number. For teens we can use the local number. |
Verizon also has 100/mnth international plan. |
This. We chose this when we had two week vacation to Italy. |
International coverage is part of my T mobile plan. |
