Ice Dogs/St. James

With the Ice Dogs coming back anyone have insights as to whether they will have enough players trying out to have full rosters at all the age levels? Will St. James become more competitive with the WLC purchase? If so will people look at Ice Dogs as a back-up?

We won’t really know about Ice Dogs until we see how many show up for tryouts. From what I’ve heard they are very realistic that they’re going to fill lower level teams easier in the first year. Maybe two.

And yes I would expect St James to get more competitive with WLC a part of the equation now. Although I expect they will also deal with their best players moving onto WLC more regularly than other teams so it will be interesting to see how all plays out.

No. WLC drains every tier 2 team. It will only make that club worse.

Also remember Loudoun Knights is out of home. There are many players looking for new homes.

Two sons with the Ice Dogs. Still a lot of unknowns for the CBHL teams, including level of play and coaches, tournaments, etc. Because there tryouts are after CHA and TSJ, some of the best players will probably already committed. Some of the difficulties are due not having a hockey director.
Good organization overall. But there may some growing pains with the CBHL teams.

CHA, TSJ, and ice dog try outs all overlap

Correct. All Tier II co-ed tryouts do. I was just correcting the holder

STJ cut essentially all of their lower tier teams to make room for Little Caps. Now, at most ages, they are down to two teams which means a lot of their former players will be looking for homes. I'd assume many will go to Ice Dogs, and the Ice Dogs should be easily able to put together CBHL teams at all ages.

STJ has basically changed their model to "Play AAA with Little Caps or AA with STJ, otherwise find somewhere else", which may really hurt their pipeline of kids. You need to be very confident your kid will make AA if you try out at STJ and miss the tryouts for places that also have A and B teams.
