Fearing massive state AND local tax increases - MoCo/MD

Ugh - I am hearing that MoCo is about hike property taxes and MD will be hiking income taxes at the same time.

What are they thinking?? The tax burden for good earners around here is already ridiculous. When I look at amount I paid in taxes last year, I honestly can't even believe it.

The tax situation must be near a tipping point where many will decide is just doesn't make sense to live here anymore.

They are thinking they aren’t immune to inflation because they aren’t. You can always move to a lower tax area.

I’m with you , OP, same across the river. Massive layoffs, and they are raising prices on everything, including taxes, significantly. Meanwhile they are still spending on their projects, nonprofits etc. and attracting more no income/low income. Who will pay for this?
