Hi, I know there was a process considered in fall 2023 to adjust the middle school for the immersion program. I believe that process was put on pause for a year, which would have meant that it would restart in fall 2024. I haven't seen anything about this, though - is it on pause indefinitely or is there still some consideration of moving the program? |
They are going to move immersion to WMS first, but waiting till budget fiasco calms down |
The maps moving immersion to wms were very disruptive, are you sure? |
Too bad. It’s a niche program and they need to fill Williamsburg/give capacity back to Gunston. |
There was a planning department overhaul, and the planning staff was let go by the Superintendent. I don’t believe there are any current plans to review boundaries. |
Troll. |
Pretty sure PP is making things up. Things they might like to be true, but aren’t (currently). |
APS has never suggested that they are even considering moving immersion to Williamsburg. It's a proposal invented by a few parents who dont want to be rezoned from Hamm to Williamsburg, like that's some sort of giant imposition. |
Moving Immersion is the cheapest option to not require any additional buses or drivers. APS has no money, so buying new buses is off the table. |
To be fair, the great switcheroo of 2021 started as a crackpot parent proposal. I saw it suggested on here well before it became an actual APS plan. |
APS hasn't even considered the proposal to determine if it requires no new buses or drivers. That's just conjecture from parents. It's not on the table and never was. |
It came from an APS committee that put out a report. |
APS concluded in the last round that it would take the fewest buses to move Hamm students to Williamsburg. That's why it was proposed. Those same students ultimately go to Yorktown anyways. |
Converting huge swaths of walk zones to busing WILL require more buses. |
That analysis did not include the immersion to WMS option since they are already bused |
