Can Trump disrupt the 2026 midterms

By declaring martial law?

This is not hyperbole or pie in the sky hysteria. This is a serious question many of us are asking? I can easily envision him doing this with his hand-picked military brass and Supreme Court doing exactly as he dictates.

I know there is nothing in the Constitution allowing a cancelled election but rump governs by his version of the US Constitution and Congress and the Supreme Court go along with whatever he decides is constitutional.

I suspect that far more smarter people than I are already doing their homework on this subject.

There would have to be a really good reason to declare martial law. The "emergency at the border" is no longer a good pretext for one since they have really clamped down on the flow of migrants. Civil unrest may be another pretext and the more likely one but it would have to get pretty bad for him to invoke martial law.

The one thing I am watching for now is what he's doing with the post office. If he takes over the post office, mail-in ballots will be in trouble. I expect to see more threats to our voting system under his watch. This is just one possibility.

I think it is quaint that people think an autocrat will allow for a free and fair election. We have somewhere between 1-4 months until our republic is fully lost. People need to wake up.

Those 2a twats have been convinced that any rule under Trump is good for them, it doesn't matter if it's democracy or autocracy, these people don't believe in rights or a democracy, they are happy to see Trump as king as long as he continues to be crass, nasty and mean.

Also, a lot of these guys are all hat and no cattle, it takes intelligence and guts to advocate for your rights, they have neither.
