For those of you who like data - this report came out today. Some interesting data, if folks are interested.
Specifically page 14 talks about the topic that comes up on here about the increased enrollment in the past few years at the middle and high school level. They break it down by Ward as well, which had the biggest jumps in enrollments, etc. http://dcpolicycenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/State-of-D.C.-Schools-2023-24.pdf |
i wish they didn't misspell things on the cover page, but i know it's on the graphic designer. |
It's a report about the state of education in DC. They are clearly trying to test the skills of the reader to see how much progess has been made. |
LOL. That's pretty impressive. Or should I say "impessive"? |
Looks like the (many) reports of middle school families staying on Capitol Hill and enrolling in DC public schools is not just anecdotal: "Ward 6 grew the fastest for middle school grades by 11 percent." 11 percent year-on-year is a huge increase. |
Also in terms of grade levels, high school has the highest growth in enrollment which is also something that's been noted anecdotally here on DCUM. |
Does anyone know where the data set this report is drawn from is? I haven't seen enrollment data for last year yet. |
Never mind. This data has been out for around a year now. Only the report is new. Wish we could see the 2024-2025 data. In past years it's been out by now. |
The typo in the title fits right in with my kids’ teachers’ spelling ability! |
It was on this later schedule last year too. After the lottery. |
+1. My middle schooler has corrected multiple teachers spelling mistakes. Yikes. |
Either I'm a moron or blind, but what's the typo? |
Modest progess seems to be overstating it. |
I think they fixed it. |
I still see it but I could have a cached copy |
