Is there a goal weight / bmi I should get to before I start Pilates at a reformer gym?
Be real. Some of you might say, just go. But … I have a sense that it’s “skinny women allowed. Come for the toning.” |
Basically as I lose weight, I was going to invest in Pilates classes.
But maybe I should lose some first before doing that? I have done reformer Pilates before, but I was skinnier. I also remember a lot of crunching the body, and my belly is in the way right now. |
I go to a pilates studio and mom bod is the default, not the exception |
Depends widely based on the studio. |
I am 45 yo 5’4” 135 lbs. At the Pilates studio in my burb I am the hot young spring chicken. |
Pilates is so boring and repetitive. |
Just go! You’ll feel better. And everyone is mainly just worrying about themselves. |
If you’re doing Pilates at a gym, you’re gonna have all sorts of body types. It’s not like a private Pilates studio where the Mom’s come in in their golden goose sneakers, with their Stanley’s after parking their X5.
That being said. A Pilates teacher at a gym may not have as much experience, so please be sure to let them know about any injuries, especially to shoulders and neck because you can get very injured easily. |
