Passenger window won't go down in older car. Do I need to fix?

Anonymous
The passenger side window won't go down in my 2013 car with 110k miles on it. I've tried the quick fixes I've found online (fuses, resetting, etc) with no luck. Likely it is the window motor.

I could pay a few hundred dollars to replace it, but I'm considering just not doing it. Convince me that I'm either OK to leave it as is or that there is some compelling reason to fix it.

Tolls and drive throughs are done from the drivers side so no practical issues there. I'm usually the only one driving the car anyway.

Of course it could affect trade-in value, but I plan on keeping the car for a few more years so that's less of a consideration.

I live in MD so no periodic inspections are required like in VA (or at least like it was when I lived in VA).

If you don't use it, then why worry about it?

You can find youtube videos on how to DIY also, as it's not difficult. Remove a few screws and perhaps a clip with a putty knife, and once the interior door panel is removed, it's easy to see what the problem is. Could just have jumped off the track from lack of use and lubrication, or might need a new motor, which usually run about $100 from any online parts place. They are plug and play.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you regularly roll that window down.

Do you drive with windows down in summer?

This is so nice in good weather. Would be nice if they would bring back that triangular window in the corner to push in a breeze.

No. Only the drivers window has to go down not the passengers you can leave it alone.

It has no material trade-inn value.

Do what you want. And keep in mind that replacing the motor is easy. Pop off the door panel and replace.

This is going to sound insane and like it can't possibly be true but it worked for me in the past. SLAM THE DOOR REALLY HARD. That's it, I'm not even joking. It works. I don't really understand why but apparently it's related to the motor getting jammed. Most likely it's dying. I'd avoid lowering the windows that get stuck because you might not be able to raise them again.

Maybe it’s your master window switch / panel?

I’d fix it, just because it would annoy me.
