CAP for a kid who isn't an "artsy" "theater type"?

My kid is passionate about writing, literature, and history. Though they admire art and the talent of others, they are not interested in performance, theater or producing art themselves.

Would it be an opportunity or a mistake for my kid to join CAP?

That is my DD and she turned down CAP. My DS is kinda extra, but not actually interested in theater etc, and he is there now and doing fine. He likes theater kids, so it works out. My DD does not and wouldn’t have liked it.

How do they like film-making? I would say that the film piece is a much bigger part of the program than the theater piece.

Other than mandatory freshman CAP theater, there are not a lot of points at which performance is mandatory. A lot of kids choose performance for various projects but it isn't compulsory.

For a kid who genuinely likes literature and history, and who is willing to be friendly to the kids who are a little "extra" when it comes to theater energy, CAP provides a really great experience.

Unless your child also has an invitation to one of the IB programs, CAP is also the only way to access enriched English in 9th or 10th grade, and the only way to receive a comprehensive approach where the Social Studies, English, and Media content is aligned and mutually reinforcing.

It’s a strong interdisciplinary humanities program even if you are not that passionate about theater or film.

Anyone know what the scriptwriting class consists of? Is it for news writing or for writing a play or movie?
