I just saw a Reddit post about flights into DCA being diverted to IAD and BWI. Is this happening a lot now? I know they’re shutting down the airport if Trump needs to fly Marine One there, but how often is this happening? Should I be avoiding DCA? |
No |
I was on a flight that diverted from National to Dulles a couple of weeks ago due to high winds. They attempted two landings then moved to Plan B. Not sure if this is more frequent now, though, just a sample size of one. |
Could be he has an early tee time somewhere tomorrow. But yes, National is an unreliable airport now. I wouldn’t use it for any important trips. On the upside, airlines might offer lower fares from national now that it is undesirable. |
It’s pretty windy so it could be that. |
I don’t mean tonight specifically. |
Then be specific. |
I was on a diverted flight to BWI and then we went to DCA. My flight was already delayed so no big deal. I also was supposed to fly into DCA the night of the AA crash and ended up at IAD. I flew out of DCA tonight and was delayed by winds. I can't win but this is travel now. |
I’ve flown out of DCA a lot and was diverted once at landing. We circled for a while and eventually had to divert because of storms in the area. |
