Family of 4. Two girls ages 11 and 13. Prefer hotels in Rome and city of Florence. For Tuscany, a villa, open to which part of Tuscany as we’ll rent a car to get around the region. Thanks! Going this summer, first two weeks in July. |
. OP again…budget wise we don’t need like 5 star hotels, but we do like nice accommodations in good locations. |
In Florence, we stayed at Hotel Boccaccio. We really liked it. The location was fantastic- steps from the train station and steps from most Florence attractions. It’s a small hotel, with smallish rooms, but hotel staff was super friendly, rooms were clean, and complimentary continental breakfast was very good- definitely many steps above a Hampton Inn breakfast. |
Can we get a number? |
Florence - Grand Hotel Minerva
In Tuscany, these are amazing properties: Castelfalfi, Borgo Pignano or Il Borro. In Rome, Sofitel Villa Borghese or Degli Artisti |
My family liked this quirky hotel with rooftop lounge in Florence.
It is a Rick Steves tour group hotel. Rooms match the pics, so use that as a guide. https://www.hoteltorreguelfa.com/ |
Across from the Grand Hotel Minerva try L’Orologio

Years ago I spent a few nights at the Grand Hotel (I believe Minerva) in Florence and it was great. We went to Sienna and then returned to Florence and by then we were out of points / didn’t want to pay as much, and stayed in the Hotel Olimpia. The hotel even then was dated and I don’t think they’ve updated it, but it was definitely fine and the location was amazing. I mention it in case the Grand is in the wrong budget range. No frills, but it was a perfectly reasonable place to stay. We didn’t rent a car while jn Florence - we got one to leave the city and then returned. I’d recommend not having one in the city if you can avoid it. Also, years ago my parents had their car towed in Italy (the day they were supposed to fly home!) because the sign said no parking on saint’s feasts days and (a) they didn’t know what the sign said and (b) they didn’t know feast days, so be alert about signs! |
Get hotels with a pool. July is 🔥🔥🔥 |
