Marijuana causes psychosis

Marijuana use causes mental illness and psychosis.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih....MC9462911/

"People who have taken large doses of the drug may experience an acute psychosis, which includes hallucinations, delusions, and a loss of the sense of personal identity"

"Countless studies have also linked chronic cannabis use to schizophrenia. A meta-analysis in January examining 591 studies concluded that early marijuana use among adolescents was associated with a significant increase in the risk of developing schizophrenia"

"California cannabis emergency-room visits climbed 53% in the three years after the state legalized recreational marijuana in 2016. Daily marijuana emergency-room visits in San Diego nearly quadrupled between 2014 and 2019. Cannabis-induced psychosis, she said, is fairly common. Some patients she treated experienced cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome from long-term use, which causes “scromiting”—screaming and vomiting. There’s no antidote. Some patients spend weeks in the emergency room waiting for placement in mental-health clinics."

This is happening to a friend’s son. It’s been a harrowing journey for him and heartbreaking for them

Why did we do this? It was a terrible idea.

Are you all aware that it takes only one night of dangerous drinking and you’re dead? The legality of it has nothing to do with it. Lots of things that are legal can kill you or harm you. Also, Op your link doesn’t work.

It is ridiculous, I don't get it. My family in Colorado said they are even cracking down on THC mis-use, abuse and distribution in the state.

We were all swayed by the hippies and the promise of unlimited tax revenue from the sale of a "harmless" substance. It's hardly harmless, teenagers and young adults are baked out of their minds in public constantly.

I tried it, it made me paranoid, made my brother believe his house was one fire, massive headache. The people I know who have ben long term users are all paranoid. I think we should seriously reconsider the reality of it for sure. It is no where close to what what they said it was.

Terrible logic. Two wrongs don't make a right. We already have alcohol, so we should have THC too.... but where does it stop? The already have Alcohol and THC, so we should have this other drug too.... Somebody with some decency and leadership should make a judgement call and a stand.

-Every thing can't be legal. We are witnessing growing repercussions. There are too many people packed in tight spaces to allow for a free for all open drug use every where.

So by your logic thc is more dangerous than alcohol? The science disagrees. Yet you’re calling my logic into question. Or are you just willing to let kids dies from alcohol because you drink? Hmm I wonder.

You are so incredibly full of shit. You tried it once and think you are versed in the subject. Oh brother.

Talk to your kids about weed the same way you do about alcohol and a slew of other dangerous legal things.

Legalized weed is one of the worst things that this country has ever done.

My 16 yr old DS became psychotic from weed. No history of any physical or mental illness. He told me he had been hearing voices for a while but they didn't bother him until they started telling him to hurt people. I'm so relieved he told me. He was put on an anti psychotic and responded well after a few months.

He is almost 20 now and won't touch the stuff. It is apparently much more potent than in the past.

if any of the idiots minimizing the risk to teens had a sibling or older child with schizophrenia they’d be singing a different tune.

Perhaps if you were a better parent you wouldn’t need the government to protect your kids.

A researcher. Every time this comes up some “ researcher” comes out of the woodwork to schooo us. Back it up researcher. What is your research revealing? Should be more than that I’m a “dumbf##%^”. To be fair your haven’t had the amble opportunity to study me so you should hold off on any conclusions.
