She was in the industry a lot longer then Danni was and her pay basically was for three months. Danni is not getting paid as much as you think she would. Most of their money comes from gigs and endorsements. I have radio friends and I was shocked at what they got paid, but their gigs help them a lot.
What did your friend do? No offense to her, but I am guessing that Danni's job was much more important and less disposable.
Which is why they abruptly removed her from the airwaves with no explanation to the audience and....disposed of her. Okay.
Yeah and I am sure when the OP's friend got fired there was a huge uproar and a 300 page message board speculating why she got fired and people commented left and right on everyone's social media that was affiliated with the station and people pledged that they wouldn't listen again.
And no, I am not Danni. This is a pretty big blow to iHeart and Danni's contract probably also had a clause in it discouraging her from taking another job... like if she got hired away from the station, the new employer, especially at a competing station, would have to payout iHeart for taking her. Finding cohesion in a morning show is difficult, and whether or not you think they had it, I am sure they at least thought so and they were probably willing to do a lot to make sure the "family" didn't break up, which would include abiding to Danni's requests.
Danni is (was) valuable. I am sure the decision wasn't made easily. If you think they were already not liking Danni and didn't want her around, they wouldn't have made that 3 year contract a few months ago. Look at the outrage that has happened in the last month. As we have all agreed, this has been horrible PR for iHeart (granted some of that was self-imposed by not just telling us), and this shows how much a member leaving can effect ratings and fan affinity.
Let's all be honest... short of IJ maybe, anyone else leaving the show in at least a similar manner (Erick, Rose) would NOT have been made into as big of a deal. I would argue that Danni was the #2 on the show. The mom role to Kane's dad role.
And as is with most entertainment (I am the one that has worked and still works in sports), the staff gets payed nearly nothing because it's such a "cool industry to work in and everyone else wants to do it, and most everyone CAN do it", but the ones that DO get paid out the ying yang is the "talent".
