Never heard of her. But sad.

She was actually a DC public school music teacher for a bit! It must have been amazing to be in her class. Clint Eastwood said that the first time he ever her "The First Time..." he nearly drove off the road.

My older brother was in her music class when he was in junior high school. At the time he was not amazed. Lol. As an adult, though, he thought it was pretty cool.

The world has lost a wonderful talent.

Rest in Power🙏🏽🌹

Clint Eastwood used "The First Time. . . " in his movie Play Misty for Me. He actually called Roberta Flack to tell her he'd like to use the song. She was so shocked that she asked him if it the song wasn't too long and offered to record a shorter version. He used the full 5-minute version in the movie.

We’ve lost another great. I played a few of her songs for my teenage daughter last night. When we got to Killing Me Softly, she said that’s the Lauryn Hill song. Needless to say, I had to educate her.

The story I heard in Capitol Hill was that she was “discovered” at Mr Henry’s. Don’t know if that’s true but the wall paneling light fixtures on the cover of one her albums is just like the area in the upstairs part of Mr Henry’s. Maybe they will do something special in her memory.

Yes, this is true. The photo on the cover of her first album was taken at Mr. Henry’s.
