We will have two full days in the port of Livorno and I’m looking for BTDT tips on how to enjoy our time.
We will definitely spend a full day in Florence. Where should we head (from Livorno) for the second day? Lucca? Volterra? San Gimignano? Someplace else? Or we could head to Cinque Terre or someplace else on the coast. Is there another coastal destination? |
If summer, definitely coast. Maybe Lerici? |
Sounds like you are doing a cruise? We did a full day in Florence the first day and then did Pisa in the morning the second day and had a relaxing afternoon in Livorno. There is a lot to see in Florence and we were pretty wiped after that day so a less stressful 2nd day was good. I think we walked something like 25k steps in Florence and we also climbed the Duomo. |
Lucca, Siena, San Giminiano |
Luca was beautiful and felt less touristy than Siena and San Giminano |
Lucca! |
Another vote for Lucca |
Lucca is lovely and very laid back. We just did a wine tasting day that was based around San Gimignano and it was fantastic. Agree about Cinque Terre if you're going in the summer. Seeing it by boat is great but make sure you have time to explore the towns too. |
Ugh another cruise to Italy...just what Livorno needs. |
Lerici!!!! |
20 years ago I loved both Cinque Terre and Sienna, but was there in mid October. San Gimignano was a bit overwhelming for me in terms of tourists even then. I lived some of the even small hill towns, but I don’t know which ones have places to stay. |
