Zero Day on Netflix

...with Robert DeNiro, Lizzie Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Connie Britton, and Angela Bassett. What did you all think? Overall, I liked it, though I thought there were some dropped plot points and Angela Bassett was underused.

Lately, I've been finding it interesting watching recently-made political tv/movies - how they were made in a time that no longer exists/how considerably the landscape has changed. I found Zero Day brushes against this but ultimately doesn't make it over the hump into the new landscape (how could it I guess?).

Non-spoiler stray thoughts: There were some really fast commutes between DC and NYC. Matthew Modine continues to play a slimy powerful person well, and watching Dan Stevens trying to say "Baltimore" with a Baltimore accent was delightful.

I am 4 episodes in. Really like it and anxious to see next episodes.
One negative factor. Some plot twists just don't make sense/seem realistic.

It was a really good plot and the acting was great. I enjoyed it very much. I was very sad at the ending.

Maybe I’ll give it another try. I admit I could not get into it and thought it was really not well made. And I’m shocked because I absolutely adore most of the actors. And they’re all really talented.

I think it’s really hard to do such a high stakes drama like that these days. For me Homeland is the gold standard and I just think most things pale in comparison.

Once scene in particular within about 15 minutes of episode 1, Robert De Niro’s wife returns home after the cyber attack. She says something like, there are dead bodies by the train tracks, I hope it’s not any of our neighbors.

Excuse me? I just thought it was really weird dialogue and not realistically how people would get through something like that? Oh well, maybe I’ll give it another chance if folks thinks it gets good.

Catching it now. Pretty good.

Jesse Plemons should lay off the Ozempic!

The Joe Biden subtext is laid on a bit thick.

No spoiler review here!

It was a bit slow imo which is was unnecessary since they didn't expand into certain plot points very much. Loved it kept me on my toes and I loved the ending! We went back and watched it twice lol.

I’m thinking I might need to watch it twice. A bit hard to follow. But I like it.

I am watching it right now. I'm only on episode three, but I am enjoying it.

Sine of The individual scenes (a former president conducting interrogations himself???) were implausible.
The broad brush of the plot though, was realistic.

Did anyone get the import of him burning his memoir? That seemed random.

Ok.... SPOILERS

so, what happened with Proteous and his auditory hallucinations? He found a "bug" or something in the bird feeder but was told after it was inspected that it was nothing. Even at the end when he was speaking to congress he saw:/heard Who Killed Bambi. I missed how they answered this plot line. Is it early signs of dementia?

I’m only on Episode 2. I was enjoying it up until the press conference where Mullen announces to the world that it’s the “Reapers” and the name of the weapon. How ridiculous! Wouldn’t they have kept that under wraps while hunting down the perpetrators? Confidentiality was stressed, yet he tells the entire planet who it is? Granted, I’m only on Episode 2 so maybe that was a red herring, but I’m a bit irritated.
